So this morning I awoke to a sound similar to the sound of someone dumping a bucket of legos down a set of stairs \u2013 very loud crashing, followed by very loud crying.<\/p>\n

\u201cBraeden, are you ok, are you ok Braeden?\u201d<\/p>\n

Well, I\u2019ll save you the drama except to find out that Braeden had taken the whiteboard, put it on the top of the stairs and slid down on top of it (and rumor has it Bella was on it too \u2013 because I heard her say \u201cI didn\u2019t get hurt\u201d, to which Braeden replied \u201cthat\u2019s because you\u2019re feet didn\u2019t stick out\u201d..  <\/p>\n

Amanda had decided to let them watch Dennis the Menace this morning without parental supervision.<\/p>\n

I am so used to our children\u2019s dangerous antics, that I lay in bed thinking:<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, if he is crying he is still alive.  If Donnie isn\u2019t screaming, then there is no blood\u201d.<\/p>\n

Braeden came wandering into the room crying:<\/p>\n

\u201cDonnie said it was safe.  Donnie said I wouldn\u2019t get hurt.\u201d<\/p>\n

So, I said to Braeden:<\/p>\n

\u201cBraeden, you have to learn to use your common sense.\u201d<\/p>\n

To which he replied:<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat is common sense?\u201d<\/p>\n

I said:<\/p>\n

\u201cBraeden, if Donnie told you it was safe to jump off the roof, would you do it?\u201d<\/p>\n

He replied, \u201cNo\u201d, between sobs.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd why  not\u201d, I asked?<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause I would get hurt\u201d (whimper).<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, that\u2019s what common sense is\u201d, I replied.<\/p>\n

Braeden went quiet\u2026<\/p>\n

A few minutes later he said \u201cBut Pappa, how would I get on the roof anyway?\u201d.<\/p>\n

OMG! I thought, he sat there the last couple minutes thinking about jumping off the roof, and his only concern was how he would actually get up there.  This boy is scary!<\/p>\n

As my mother always used to say to me; \u201cWhen they passed out the brains, Braeden thought they said drains and said \u2018Give me a little one with a lot of holes in it\u2019\u201d!<\/p>\n
