Intinction<\/font><\/p>\n

Remembrance<\/font><\/p>\n

To sup<\/font><\/p>\n

Usually, I stand, I hear those words <\/font><\/p>\n

                <\/span>"His body was broken for you"<\/font><\/p>\n

They cut to the heart<\/font><\/p>\n

They make you invite his goodness, richness and mercy<\/font><\/p>\n

The soft, sopped bread, <\/font><\/p>\n

The bitter sweet taste of bled grapes<\/font><\/p>\n

Into your unsavory and rotting meat,                                     <\/span>gracious,              <\/span>bewildered                                         <\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

                <\/span>"Why did He love me so?"<\/font><\/p>\n

But wait! <\/font><\/p>\n

Just try sometime                                                            <\/span>standing there<\/font><\/p>\n

                <\/span>In the echoed silent halls of two thousand years of Saints<\/font><\/p>\n

                                <\/span>As they crowd around to eat <\/font><\/p>\n

To speak those words to others<\/font><\/p>\n

                <\/span>Almost like a double edged sword<\/font><\/p>\n

                                <\/span>They reach and stab and pierce your innermost parts <\/font><\/p>\n

And each time it becomes more unbearable<\/font><\/p>\n

                <\/span>The finality                          <\/span>the weightiness of the gift<\/font><\/p>\n

                <\/span>                <\/span>"His body was broken for you"  <\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

The fullness of each hammer swung word<\/font><\/p>\n

                <\/span>Echoes. Haunts.<\/font><\/p>\n

                <\/span>Tightens the nail around His flesh<\/font><\/p>\n

                                <\/span>Grips the flesh around your eyes                              <\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

The catholicity of his sacrifice comes crashing down around you<\/font><\/p>\n

                <\/span>Almost bringing you to your knees in full               <\/span>                                <\/span>                <\/span>perpetual prostration<\/font><\/p>\n

It wasn’t for you only that your "personal savior" died<\/font><\/p>\n

                <\/span>It was for him, <\/font><\/p>\n

                <\/span>                <\/span>                <\/span>And her,<\/font><\/p>\n

                                                <\/span>                                <\/span>And him,<\/font><\/p>\n

                                                                <\/span>                                                <\/span>And her<\/font><\/p>\n

<\/font><\/o:p><\/p>\n

And for as many as there are to come to the feast<\/font><\/p>\n

<\/font><\/o:p><\/p>\n
