{"id":152,"date":"2009-06-02T05:41:00","date_gmt":"2009-06-02T05:41:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/darthjedi.logiodice.com\/2009\/06\/02\/OhCaptainMyCaptain.aspx"},"modified":"2009-06-02T05:41:00","modified_gmt":"2009-06-02T05:41:00","slug":"oh-captain-my-captain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/darthjedi.logiodice.com\/?p=152","title":{"rendered":"Oh Captain, My Captain"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On a couple of our plane trips down and back from Haiti the captain\u2019s let Donovan sit in the cockpit and play with the flight controls\u2026 I\u2019m like \u201cDon\u2019t touch anything\u201d and they\u2019re like \u201cEverything is turned off, he is fine, take the stick\u201d\u2026 One of the times, the captain is like, \u201cLook, the plane can talk to me\u201d, and he ran a pre-flight certification diagnostic, and the plane came back and said something like \u201cError, not all systems are certified for flight\u201d and the captain said \u201cUh, oh, that\u2019s not good\u201d.&#160; I assume they had it fixed, there were no flight tragedies that day.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of flight tragedy, I am getting slightly better on a Plane, although I still sit there and imagine what it\u2019s going to be like to die in a plane crash \u2013 I can\u2019t help it.&#160; And somehow, both trips we have taken have been surrounded by tragedies.&#160; <\/p>\n<p>The last time we went there was the NJ crash that killed everyone on board, this time, a couple days after we got back there was the Air France tragedy that killed everyone on board.<\/p>\n<p>Just as I was starting to get used to the idea of flying, I\u2019m reminded how unsafe it really is\u2026 and the worst part, due to the fickle nature of politics and governmental paperwork, I am probably going to have to fly back down to Haiti later this year to submit my I 600 in person. =\\<\/p>\n<p>&#160;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/darthjedi.logiodice.com\/blog\/content\/binary\/WindowsLiveWriter\/DonovantheCaptain_7F98\/100_1317.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-right-width: 0px;
